Something's broken

I blogged a while ago about whether gender is an issue of nature or nurture.  As it turns out this theory has already been practised in real life with horrifyingly tragic consequences.

I boy who through a medical mistake, lost his genitalia while only a few weeks old was raised as a girl.  This was encouraged by a Dr Money (I kid you not) who was researching this topic.  This child was perfect because he came with his own control group - an identical twin.  (Read the full article here.)

There were tragic and disturbing consequences to this whole affair.  What strikes me most about this awful situation is not the findings of the experiment but the lack of wisdom shown throughout the whole process.

When we look to ourselves for guidance, when the world chooses for itself what to do, the outcome is often awful. If the bible was known by these folks, if they followed it's guidance they surely would have avoided heartache for them and their two sons.

The world needs us to share the good news we have with them.  Christians are not better, wiser or more sensible than anyone else but we have access to a God who loves, cares and guides His people.  He is the hope for the hopeless.

Christians do not sit on your hands while the world reaches out for love and salvation.  The people around you need to hear the good news we have.

Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!
Romans 11:33

For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.
1 Corinthians 1:25
